Professional Training
Project SOAR provides professional training for parents, caregivers, teachers, and teaching assistants who support children’s emotional, social, and behavioural development. Our training is grounded in child-centred principles and focuses on practical skills that can be applied in family, classroom, and community settings.
Through Parenting Training and Teacher and Teaching Assistant Training, participants learn how to understand children’s emotional needs, respond with greater empathy, support emotional regulation, and strengthen positive relationships. The training combines theory, guided discussion, practical exercises, role-play, and reflection to help participants apply what they learn in everyday situations.
Our aim is to equip adults with practical knowledge and skills to support children with greater confidence, sensitivity, and consistency.
Services We Offer
Project SOAR offers training and support designed to strengthen the adults and communities surrounding children. Our services include:
Parenting Training
Parenting a child who is experiencing emotional, behavioural, or social challenges can be demanding. Parents and caregivers may understand that their child needs support, but may not always know how to respond in ways that strengthen connection, encourage emotional expression, and guide behaviour respectfully.
Project SOAR’s Parenting Training Programme equips parents and caregivers with practical skills based on Child-centered Play Therapy (CCPT) and child-centred principles. The teaching focuses primarily on individual one-on-one play with their child. Through guided teaching, role-play, group discussion, and home practice, parents learn how to conduct individual play sessions to understand their child’s feelings and needs, strengthen connection, and respond to behaviour with warmth and appropriate boundaries.
The programme is designed for parents and caregivers of children aged 3–10 who are experiencing behavioural, emotional, or social challenges.

- Build a stronger and more secure relationship with their child through individual play.
- Understand and respond to their child’s feelings and needs more effectively.
- Use child-centred play techniques to help their child express emotions and manage behaviour.
- Set limits respectfully while maintaining warmth and connection.

Teacher and Teaching Assistant Training
Project SOAR provides professional development workshops for teachers and teaching assistants who support children in school and classroom settings. The training introduces participants to Child-Centred Play Therapy principles and provides practical tools that can be applied in everyday classroom routines.
The workshop is designed to help school staff understand how children may communicate stress, confusion, frustration, or unmet emotional needs through play and behaviour. Participants will learn how to respond with greater sensitivity and use practical communication strategies to support students’ emotional regulation, participation, and relationships with others.
Training Options & Delivery Formats
Project SOAR offers two distinct training pathways tailored to your school's focus. Depending on the option chosen, training can be conducted through either online training or in-person sessions to best suit your school's needs:
Option 1: Individual Play Focus (Classroom Management & One-on-One Support)
This pathway equips teachers and teaching assistants with individual play-based approaches to understand student needs and improve behavioral management in daily classroom interactions.
Workshop content includes:
- An introduction to Child-Centred Play Therapy principles for individual support.
- Recognising how children communicate stress or unmet needs through individual behaviour.
- Practical communication and guidance skills for enhanced classroom management.
- Tools for responding to individual students with empathy, patience, and appropriate structure.
- Strategies for applying CCPT principles within daily individual classroom routines.
Option 2: Group Emotional & Social Skills Training (Group Facilitation)
This pathway trains staff to effectively facilitate emotional and social skills groups. By gaining a deeper understanding of group dynamics, staff learn how to guide students in emotional and social aspects, which naturally translates into better overall classroom flow and student engagement.
Workshop content includes:
- Understanding the core principles of facilitating emotional and social skills groups.
- Navigating group dynamics and supporting peer interaction safely.
- Helping students express emotions and build social competence within a group setting.
- Practical strategies to apply group learnings back into the wider classroom environment.
- Discussion of group-based scenarios, examples, and practical situations.
Workshop length & Quotation
Workshops can be adapted to the format and duration chosen by the school or organisation (e.g., 3-hour introductory workshop, 6-hour practical workshop, or 12-hour extended training programme), delivered either online or in-person.
Note: Because each pathway can be tailored for online or in-person delivery based on your school's specific objectives and requirements, pricing is available upon quotation. Please contact us to discuss your arrangement.
Supervision and Practice Support
Project SOAR provides supervision to support the quality, safety, and ongoing development of practice. Supervision gives teachers, teaching assistants, and participating staff an opportunity to reflect on their work, discuss challenges, and receive guidance as they apply child-centred Play Therapy covering both individual one-on-one play with children and groupwork practice.
Through supervision, participants can review individual or group dynamics, consider children’s emotional and social needs, examine their own responses, and identify appropriate ways to support children during sessions. Supervision also helps teachers and teaching assistants connect theory with practice and develop greater confidence in responding to different situations.
Supervision Format & Delivery
Depending on whether the focus is on individual play or groupwork, supervision can take place through both online training and in-person sessions to best suit the needs of the participants and organisation.
Supervision may include:
- Review of individual play sessions, group sessions, and practical classroom experiences.
- Discussion of children’s emotional, social, and behavioural needs in one-on-one or group contexts.
- Reflection on teacher/staff responses and session dynamics.
- Guidance on communication, boundaries, and emotional safety.
- Support in planning and adapting individual interventions or group activities.
- Identification of areas for further learning and development.
Pricing & Quotation
Our supervision approach is grounded in reflection, respect, and professional responsibility. It aims to help teachers and school staff continue developing their knowledge, practical skills, and confidence while maintaining the best interests of the children they support.
Note: Because formats can be tailored for online or in-person delivery depending on individual play or group requirements, pricing is available upon quotation. Please contact us to discuss your specific arrangement.
